Definition of mother from dictionary means to 1.bring up (a child) with care and affection. What do you think about when it comes to your mother? My mom loves to serve people and make us laugh. It is a way to show affection and that she cares. I think about some mothers in the bible that stands out.
Mary, mother of Jesus, dealt with the shame of giving birth to Him because it was not by her husband, Joseph. It was divinely conceived from above. She loved Jesus so much that she did not stop Him from fulfilling His purpose which included Him dying on the cross to save the world from the curse of sin and shame.
1 Kings 3:16-28 Solomon had to make a decision; which mother the baby belonged to. Both women said that was their baby. Solomon tested them and said, I will split the baby in half and give to each of you. One of the women agreed with cutting the baby in half. However, the other woman said let the other woman keep the baby. Solomon knew that the real mother was the one who was willing to give her baby up so the baby would not be cut in half.
Moses mother protected him from getting killed by the Egyptians in Exodus 2 by putting the baby in the basket in the river Nile. Pharoah’s daughter was moved with compassion and adopted Moses.
In each story of the mothers they made a sacrifice as an act of love.
A loving mother’s heart, sets her a part.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for my mother and other mothers including the ones that have passed on who have made sacrifices for me, loved me, discipline, instruct, and guide me. I repent at times when I take my mother for granted. I cherish her joy, serving heart, and being straight forward. In Jesus name, Amen!
